Federal Sales, Simplified: Interactive Pipeline Dashboard Now Live!

We’re excited to share a newly completed Power BI dashboard built for the federal sales division of a manufacturing technology provider.

This interactive dashboard helps the client track their complex B2G (business-to-government) pipeline — from opportunity stages and revenue forecasts to margin visibility and individual salesperson performance. It’s designed to serve both executive-level decision-makers and frontline reps navigating long-cycle, high-stakes federal sales.


The Challenge

Federal sales cycles are rarely simple. Projects often involve:

  • Extended timelines due to procurement processes
  • Multiple stakeholders across government and industry
  • Large-dollar-value opportunities with strict compliance steps
  • A need for real-time visibility into probability, value, and timing

The client’s existing reports were static, fragmented across systems, and not designed for quick insight or field use. They needed a single dashboard that could bring together opportunity status, forecasting, and performance metrics — in real time.


Our Solution

We delivered a six-page Power BI dashboard that helps leadership, managers, and reps:

  • Track performance across open, won, and lost deals
  • Visualize pipeline trends by rep, region, manufacturer, and time horizon
  • Analyze performance metrics like conversion rate, average days to close, and weighted pipeline value
  • Zoom into details through dynamic filters and drill-through pages

Whether the goal is monthly performance review or daily deal follow-up, users can move seamlessly from high-level trends to opportunity-level data.


Key Features

  • Dashboard Overview: This executive command center delivers a clear and impactful snapshot of federal sales performance. It highlights total opportunity volume, conversion rate, and both revenue and margin won to date — alongside current pipeline forecasts. The dashboard also visualizes deal distribution across Open, Lost, and Won states, while showcasing key trends over time through charts on Opportunity Flow, Pipeline Revenue & Margin, Monthly Sales Performance, and Sales Rep Leaderboard.
  • Time Horizon Pipeline: Enable short-term planning by allowing managers and reps to isolate opportunities scheduled to close in the next 30, 60, or 90 days — or explore pipeline by quarter and year. Weighted values update dynamically based on closure probability.
  • Salesperson Performance Metrics: Gain insight into rep-level performance, including project status distribution, lost reason breakdown, average days to close, conversion rate, total pipeline value, and weighted margin by rep. These insights support performance coaching and pipeline distribution reviews.
  • Top Accounts View: A dedicated page showcasing high-value open opportunities grouped by customer, with weighted revenue and margin. Includes a geographic view of pipeline distribution to support regional prioritization and field team planning.
  • Opportunity Lines (Detailed Table): An interactive table of all opportunity records with built-in drill-through filters. Users can jump from summary KPIs to specific deals to review deal history, values, owner, and probability in detail.
  • Quote Reference Page: Tailored for won opportunities, this page lists finalized quotes including revenue, margin, quote dates, and expiration. Provides a traceable link between sales activity and booked revenue.
  • Drill-Through Navigation: Custom drill-throughs from KPIs and summary visuals let users navigate intuitively into detailed records — reducing clicks and eliminating the need for multiple report views.
  • Interactive Slicers & Filters: Slice data by salesperson, manufacturer, month, probability, and region to support decision-making at every level — from individual reps to leadership.
  • Professional Design & Layout: Built in Power BI with clean, branded visuals aligned with the client's internal design guidelines. Each page is designed to be both intuitive and functional across user roles.
